VroidStudio, which can be downloaded for free from Steam, allows anyone familiar with customizing game characters to easily create 3D Anime characters.
If you can't read English because it doesn't support Korean, you have to touch the face option and body option bars on the right to see what's changed. If you have done a lot of character customization in games such as Mount & Blade Warband, Kenshi, or Black Desert, you will be familiar with it.
In addition to the settings on the right side of the screen, there are also presets on the left side of the screen, so making it is easier than you think.
In the case of clothing, there are presets provided, but you can modify the texture, so choose a hoodie or t-shirt appropriately, then add a layer to the texture and draw it yourself, and you will get a nice top. If you can't think of a design you want on your t-shirt, you can simply draw a heart or star on the t-shirt. If it's a white t-shirt, it would be more popular to have words engraved on it.
To use the completed character, you must export it with the vrm extension. It is said that the vrm extension file cannot be converted back to a vroid extension file because it is similar to converting a psd file into a jpeg file.
The screen that appears when you press the blue Export button. The translation of the items required when printing with VRM version 1.0 is as follows.

If you print version 0.0 instead of VRM 1.0, you can use it to work as a virtual YouTuber, but since it has nothing to do with VR Chat, we will skip it.
If you are curious about version 0.0, please visit another YouTuber's fan cafe here. https://cafe.naver.com/3sunset3/388
To use VRM 1.0 in VR Chat, VR Chat Creator Companion and Unity version 2022 must be installed on your computer, and you must also prepare a Unity package file called UniVRM along with the VRM 1.0 file.
As far as I know, the version on the GitHub site https://github.com/vrm-c/UniVRM/releases will be the most recent.
Projects must be created in VR Chat Creator Companion. When you actually create a file, Unity turns on, but important files are linked to Creator Companion.
When creating a project, don't forget to select Avatar 2022 as the template. If you do not select a template, the Create Project button is disabled.
Oh, and the created project must be opened separately. It does not run immediately after creation.
When you open the project, Unity will run. This screen is displayed at the bottom of other Windows windows, so it is hidden if other programs are running.
VR Chat Creator Companion has put basic files in the asset folder and package folder, but we need something more in the Asset folder.
There are two files: UniVRM's latest package file downloaded from GitHub and the vrm1.0 character file you created.
First, import all package files of the latest version of uniVRM.
Now, put the vrm1.0 character file you created into the asset folder and save it by pressing [CTRL]+[S] on the keyboard. Just save it in the assets folder.
Now, select the character in the asset folder and press the material button on the right side of the screen. I edited the screenshot with the Paint program and made a red square at the location of the button.
If you click the Materials button, click the [Extract Materials And Textures...] button that I highlighted with a blue rectangle below.
This will unlock the texture of the Vrm1.0 file in Unity.
Please save it in case the program crashes.
There are too many images in the post. We'll cover it next in Part 2.
