Alto Goldfilled, a dedicated student at the Ortigia Academy of Magic, desires to become a powerful sorcerer. But he is unable to become one as, despite his high marks and tremendous commitment to his studies, he fails his summoning class.
With the possibility of repeating a year hanging over his head, Alto tries following an ancient, worn-out grimoire in a desperate attempt to remedy his dilemma.
To his astonishment, he succeeds and summons a formidable demon named Vermeil. As a token of appreciation for releasing her, Vermeil accepts to become Alto's familiar, cementing their bond with a profound kiss.
Little does Alto know what else he is capable of and what Vermeil's past hides.
