Darkness, who is most often called Lalatina in jest, is the princess of the noble family known as the Shield of the Kingdom. Although she is the daughter of a royal family and frequently receives marriage proposals from other nobles in the area, she rejects them in favor of pursuing her dream of being an adventurer. She would frequently flee the kingdom for Axel (City of Adventurers) to seek for friends. Darkness finds Kazuma and his group as they scramble to find a "Crusader" class adventure that can withstand harm. Darkness chooses to join them after spotting her chance. She quickly joins as a permanent member of the gang, and they go on a number of fantastic adventures.
