BREAKING: Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed coronavirus rules will end in England, the first major Western economy to scrap government restrictions relating to the pandemic.
From Thursday, people who have the virus will no longer be legally required to self-isolate, though they will still be advised to stay at home. Free, universal coronavirus testing will end from April 1, Johnson said.
The move is a significant boost to the prime minister after a series of scandals, including claims of lockdown parties at Downing Street. As he set out his plan to lift restrictions, Johnson told MPs it was “time we got our confidence back.”
