Haha, it could be disheartening when you want to show a movie to someone and they say this. Although, I think in some cases people say just let it play because they don't like the other person waiting for them awkwardly while they're in the bathroom. But there are times as well when they aren't interested in the movie and they just want it to play since they don't like watching it.
